tomorrow i’ll be on the train to goolwa for the salt on the tongue festival where i’ll be reading and making this audio walking tour if all goes according to plan. which of course it always does.
festival season is here again, so i have a few interstate trips over the coming month and i’m looking forward to catching up with various people around the country, but really i’m craving the lifestyle of staying home in my tracksuit pants drinking tea and listening to podcasts, aka freelancer slumming. alas, no time for such glamorous pursuits.
the international artist nomad lifestyle is great and i am grateful for it, but i do feel like my relationships at home are suffering somewhat. many of my conversations with friends consist of ‘when are you going away again?’ which is tiresome. i do love being a part of this community and it is such a transient town that social constellations shift dramatically in quite a short time. you can miss entire generations if you go away for eight months. Am i getting fomo about settling down? jesus. lucky there is a big adventure to China planned for later this year!
also in local news, wife and friend and i made this tribute to lost and stolen bicycles at the alice bicycle film fest on the weekend: the wailing wall
i have two short stories shortlisted in the NT Literary Awards, and a post from this ‘ere blog has been printed out for you in the miscellaneous press anthology, which is a great read but does have me turning to the links a lot – makes me realise how embedded blogging is in other texts. a href to that.
